Welcome to Part III - Videos 9-15

At this point, you may be feeling like there have been a lot of concepts introduced - but how does everything fit together? Great question!

The first two modules introduces some additional ideas that can help bring the conversation to a deeper level - creating a greater connection, while offering some simple ideas for asking people to do what's needed. Then, we flip back to the beginning, with some straightforward ideas for starting the conversation - a video that connects the High Concept to what's innovative or unexpected.

If you've made it this far, you're starting to see things in a new way. You are seeing that there are more options than what you originally realized, and from those options you will uncover new results. Keep going in your exploration. These videos are designed to present simple objectives, but the key for you will be to try out different ideas. See what works best, for you.  Hopefully, you can continue in sequence. Sharing these ideas with a friend, co-worker or someone you trust can help you both to take an important journey.

Continue to look in a new direction, and you will find new results. Ready for the next steps? Keep going, and after these modules, you can access the Bonus Materials!

AND Now, here are the videos!

VIDEO 9: Who Sits in the Empty Chair?

Insight into the nature of connection and authenticity. In this module, learn how to leverage your knowledge of human nature into a compelling method of connection. Using the concept of the Empty Chair, discover how you can take the conversation to a new level. Length: 4:15

Questions:

  1. Who sits in your Empty Chair, right now? Consider who is "top of mind" for you.
  2. Does the Empty Chair change for you, based on your circumstances? If you answered, "Yes", then that is also true for the people all around you. Consider the context, as you think about the person who sits in the Empty Chair.
  3. Moving away from yourself to consider the people or person(s) you wish to influence the most: who sits in their "Empty Chair"?
  4. Sometimes a concept or an idea can sit in the Empty Chair (for example, increasing shareholder value, eliminating excess costs, reducing risk in a dangerous environment...these are just some examples of objectives that might be top of mind). What concepts or objectives could sit in the Empty Chair, for the person who matters most to you?
  5. Which is more powerful: considering a person who sits in the Empty Chair, or using a concept or objective for the Empty Chair? Your answer will depend on your audience, so it's not an either/or answer. Is there a combination of people and concepts that can help you to bring your message to life? Consider both people and concepts as you explore the Empty Chair. What shows up for you as the most powerful connection, for the person or people you wish to influence and persuade?
